Abstract

A seat for a passenger vehicle consists of a frame made of two mouldings joined down a vertical plane (XX) which forms an axis of symmetry. The two base parts of the mouldings together form a thin strut (2) which acts as a support giving a large clearance all round at floor level. Above this strut, the mouldings spread out to form the seat support (3) then a back support (5) above this tapers inwards. An L-shaped sheet is positioned on the seat and back support, carrying in turn a corrugated seat and back rest. The seats can be mounted side by side and back to back, and a U-shaped handle attached to the top can also be used to secure two backs together. A stiffener (19) is fitted between the two mouldings.
