Abstract

The seat base is a flat plate and the bead has a pair of parallel flanges which fit over the edge of the plate so as to secure the bead to the plate. The bead has a chamber forming a cushion around the edge and an upwardly projecting and tapering lip which turn towards the centre of the seat. The cushion is press fitted onto the base plate so that the lip is resiliently deformed over the edge of the cushion to retain the cushion. The undersurface of the cushion has projections which pass into openings in the base plate or into hooks on the base plate so as improve the alignment between the base plate and the cushion.
