Abstract

1463031 Files BUCKBEE-MEARS CO 19 Feb 1975 [17 July 1974] 6955/75 Heading B3L An abrading device for metal or wood is formed by etching from a base material so as to provide a plurality of upstanding projections with substantially vertical side walls and flat tops, each projection having a top with a minimum dimension or diameter of 0À0015 inch and a minimum height of 0À0025 inch. The projections form cutting teeth with a density of 700-900 per sq. inch. The teeth may be of circular cross-section with a diameter of 0À003 inch or they may be of elliptical, or square in cross-section. The minimum dimension of the teeth preferably lies between 0À0025 and 0À0065 inch. The height of the teeth in relation to the base material is so arranged to provide a desired flexibility in the device depending on the surface contours it is desired to smooth.
