1484669 Making a filter element DAVIS INDUSTRIAL (FILTERS) Ltd 8 Nov 1974 [12 Nov 1973] 52338/73 Headings BID and BIT A rectangular block of resilient open-celled foamed plastics is cut in a platen press (Figs. 3, 4 not shown), the cuts 2, 4, 6 and 10 extending from the front face to the back, and then opened out to form an annular pleated filter element. Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) represent a block with end extensions which provides a more symmetrical element. The upper platen of the press carries a wooden block with steel blades corresponding to the cuts required, which descends onto the plastics block which is supported between guides on a polypropylene base.
