Abstract

The seat is used in public transport vehicles and comprises a hollow base (1) fixed to the floor (2), its back approx. vertical. The upper edges (5, 8) of this base are curved to form a support for the seat and back cushions. A gap is left between the rear edge of the seat cushion (6) and the lower edge of the back cushion (7). This gap is infilled by a metal plate (9), curved and recessed below the surfaces (10, 11) of both cushions to prevent contact when in use. The plate is covered to match the cushions and a curved intermediate support (3) fits between cushions and base.
