The layer of luminescent material e.g. a manganese and antimony-activated calcium fluorochlorophosphate on the inner side of the glass envelope of a discharge lamp contains barium tetraphosphate as an adhesive. The phosphor may be mixed also with nitrocellulose as a binder.
