Abstract

851,989. Drafting-apparatus for preparing and spinning machines. SCHLUMBERGER & CIE, N. Feb. 20, 1959 [Feb. 21, 1958; Jan. 9, 1959], No. 5946/59. Clases 120(1) and 120(2). Between the feed anddrawing-rollers of a drafting-device for preparing or spinning-machines is provided a conductor comprising two aprons 8, 9 each supported at its ends by a driving roller e.g. 16, 26 and one or more pulleys, e.g. 17, 18, 27, and at its sides by the side-pieces of a frame 11 or 12 which support the corresponding pulleys and driving-roller and are connected by a wall forming a supporting-table 13 or 25 for the upper run of the corresponding sleeve, means being provided to rotate one of the two driving- rollers and to press the lower run of the upper apron against the upper run of the lower apron. The side-pieces have positioning lugs co-operating with bosses on the machine ; and upward extrusions to guide the aprons; apertures and bearing-recesses for the axles of the driving- rollers and pulleys; and elongated slots for the spindles 24, 241 of pressure-frames 41, 42. These comprise side-checks with apertures to receive the spindles and the axles of rollers 50, 501, joined by top-members; the projecting-ends of the spindles are weighted or spring-urged, and the rollers may be subdivided. The driving-rollers are driven by a toothed wheel 31 engaging one of two intermeshing wheels 26, 35 fast with the spindles of the two driving-rollers. The tables 13, 25 may be curved.
