849,257. Motor vehicle driving gear. SOC. NOUVELLE DES VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS TITAN. Dec. 3, 1957 [Dec. 3, 1956], No. 37663/57. Classes 79(2) and 79(3). A trailer or semi-trailer has at least one pair of wheels 1 driven at crawling speed by an auxiliary motor 9 coupled to the wheels through a freewheel device 12 which permits the wheels to turn freely when the towing vehicle takes over the whole of the drive at higher speeds. The motor 9 may be electric or hydraulic and supplied with power from a generator or pump 4 on the towing vehicle. Alternatively the motor 9 may be a selfcontained internal combustion engine. The drive includes a change-speed gear 13 and a clutch 14 which may be remotely controlled from the driver's cabin together with a remote control for locking the freewheel 12.
