Abstract

771,510. Vehicle driving gear. TINELLI, P., and DELLALIO, A. March 28, 1955 [March 26, 1954], No. 9041/55. Class 79(2). A pair of trailer wheels 5 are mounted on an axle provided with a differential gear 4 which is connected to a propeller shaft 2 adapted to be driven from a tractor power take-off P, a oneway clutch 3 being interposed in the shaft 2 whereby the drive to the wheels 5 is disengaged when the speed of the driven part of the clutch 3 is higher than that of the driving part. As shown the power take-off P drives the wheels 5 through a variable speed gear 1, a spring- loaded slipping clutch 18 being also interposed in the shaft 2. The clutch 3 is maintained in the engaged condition by a spring 16 and can be manually controlled by a lever 15.
