848,557. Emptying tanks.. DRYSDALE & CO. Ltd. March 11, 1958 [March 5, 1957], No. 7236/57. Class 21. Deep well cargo pumps 1, 2 located in oil tanks 3, 4, are operated by water turbines 5, 6. Each pump 1, 2, including its rising pipe and pump shaft, is arranged in a trunk 7 and discharges to a main cargo pump 8 operated by a water turbine. The deep well pumps reduce the suction lift that would otherwise be necessary for the main cargo pump 8 to empty the tanks, and the water turbines reduce the explosion risks present when electric pumps are used.
