Abstract
<PICT:0852653/III/1> <PICT:0852653/III/2> In a two-stage centrifugal pump pumping liquid from a reservoir and comprising rotary chambers 26, 28, Fig. 1, co-operating with stationary scoops 34, 35 carried by a stationary shaft 19, gases separating out from the liquid in the first-stage chamber 26 are drawn off into the shaft 19 through a port 90, Fig. 7, by an ejector 91 and discharged through a passage 96 leading back to the reservoir. The ejector 91 is energized by liquid drawn from the interstage passage 27 through a port 93. The energizing liquid may instead be tapped off from an interstage labyrinth gland 63.
