Abstract

1,230,428. Centrifugal pumps. COMBUSTION ENG. Inc. Dec.23, 1968 [Dec. 26, 1967], No.60949/68. Heading F1C. [Also in Division F4] Centrifugal pumps 35, 43 can be changed over from operation in parallel to operation in series by opening a normally closed valve 4. Check valves 11, 12 which are open during parallel operation then automatically close. Isolating valves 3, 6 and 5, 7 permit either pump to be taken out of use if it develops a leak or needs servicing, the other pump then being used alone. In another arrangement, Fig. 1 (not shown), valves 6, 7 are omitted and the simple check valves 11, 12 are replaced by stop check valves (1, 2).
