A pump for high temperature liquid comprises an inlet port in the cylinder wall controlled by the plunger which has a portion of reduced cross-section connecting the pump chamber and an outlet enlargement in the cylinder wall above the inlet port. The piston may be actuated by a crank or a cam profiled to divide each cycle into piston raising, a pause and piston descent. Specification 814,754 is referred to.
