Abstract

Bulky yarn comprising combined crimp and loop formations is produced by feeding (before or after collection) a bundle of filaments e.g. of viscose or cellulose acetate, having "latent crimp" i.e. in which crimp may be developed by treatment with water (such as may be produced by the process described in Specification 570,159 and U.S.A. Specification 2,517,694) into a zone of turbulent steam, withdrawing the bundle from the zone at a rate less than the feed rate and collecting with or without insertion of (additional) twist. The turbulent zone may be produced within a modified form of the jet described in Specification 839,493. Specifications 732,929, 762,630 and 839,492 also are referred to.
