Abstract

977,937. Finishing yarns. SOC. RHODIACETA. May 24, 1963 [May 29, 1962; April 9, 1963(2)], No. 20941/63. Addition to 953,782. Headings D1 F and D1W. The crimping process of the parent Specification is modified by the use of an auxiliary yarn which is supplied at a lower speed than the yarn or yarns to be crimped and introduced therewith into the enclosed space. The composite yarn thus obtained is collected e.g. on a wound package or in a rotating pot or perforated dyeing cage, and subjected to a thermal setting treatment. The auxialiary yarn is then removed e.g. by selective dissolution or melting or by stretch-breaking into short, physically dispersable lengths. The auxiliary yarn is supplied at 0. 4-2. 5% of the speed of the other yarn(s) and may constitute 0. 01-0. 05% by weight of the composite yarn. The thermal setting may be combined with a dyeing treatment. Two or more yarns which are to be crimped may be supplied at similar or different speeds so as to produce finally two similar separated yarns or a crimped tow comprising all the filaments of the these yarns, or a core yarn or fancy yarn resembling chenille.
