Abstract

1,193,625. Crimping tow: wadding. COURTAULDS Ltd. 20 July, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 32821/66. Addition to 1, 105, 341. Heading D1F and D1R. The process of Specification 1, 105, 341 whereby a filamentary yarn is false-twisted by means of a fluid which then carries it through a constriction is applied to a tow. The apparatus of the parent Specification is modified in that the yarn inlet tube of the twist unit is surrounded by spirally arranged vanes which cause the fluid, e.g. air, to follow a spiral path. The crimped filament may be stapled, and the fibres formed into a wadding of low bulk density.
