Abstract

Bulked multifilament nylon, polyester or polypropylene yarn or tow comprising irregular saw-tooth crimps in each filament (with the crimps in different filaments in different planes and out of phase between filaments) and having specified (and defined) crimp frequency range, "skein length" and "equivalent steam setting temperature" is made by a continuous process, in which undrawn yarn is drawn (in one or more stages) and immediately forwarded (with mechanical overfeed not more than 20%) to a bulking e.g. stuffer-box, apparatus, such as described in Specification 1,085,239.
