Abstract

752,526. Twist tubes. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Aug. 24, 1954 [Aug. 25, 1953], No. 24598/54. Class 120 (2). A false-twist spindle comprising a rotatable shaft having a bore extending longitudinally through it has two additional bores extending laterally from the exterior of the shaft to the longitudinal bore, the two additional bores being relatively angularly displaced about the axis of the shaft. The device has particular application in the crimping of filamentary threads or tows which are passed through a heating chamber 14 to render them slightly plastic before entering the tubular spindle 15. Bores 27, 28 of equal size intersect each other and the central bore 24 at right angles and the thread passes out through one transverse bore and in through the other.
