1375151 Stretching polyester filaments BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 1 Feb 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 4997/73 Heading B5B Polyester filaments are melt-spun and given a preliminary draw by taking them off at a rate in excess of 3000 m./minute, cooled, drawn with a draw ratio of from 1 : 1À8 to 1 : 1À3 and then packaged. During the second drawing stage the filaments are exposed to heat from only one heating unit. Preferably the second drawing step is performed in an atmosphere of steam. The process may be continuous or may be interrupted after the cooling step.
