Abstract

Cellulose artificial wool having a stable curliness is manufactured by treating the crude and still wet cellulose fibre with superheated steam. The treatment produces at the same time a diminution in the swelling of the fibres so that they may be advantageously mixed with wool. In an example, viscose is spun as described in Specification 467,426 and while still wet is subjected to steam at 115 DEG C. under atmospheric pressure. In a second example, the spun viscose is subjected, before the steaming, to a treatment with a solution of the formic acid salt of triethanolamine stearic acid ester.
