Abstract

841,106. Cable couplings. PIRELLI, S.p.A. Dec. 8, 1958 [Feb. 6, 1958], No. 39457/58. Class 38(1). A T-connector for cables with shaped cores comprises a curved contact plate P fitted with a terminal block B for a tapping cable 5 and adapted to engage a bored cable conductor. A flexible metal plate 2, apertured to fit over the terminal block, bears on the plate P and is engaged by flexible clamps 3 which embrace the cable with the interposition of a U-shaped insulating member 4 fitted round the cable opposite the clamping plate. In the case of aluminium conductors a copper-aluminium bimetallic strip may be located between the conductor and contact plate with the aluminium side of the strip in contact with the conductor. Three T-connectors, one for each core, may be mounted on the cable a short distance from each other for making connection to a 3-core tapping cable (Fig. 3, not shown).
