Abstract
840,895. Doors; windows. FRANK, W. Aug. 3, 1956. No. 23992/56. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] In a turning, tilting door or window having a rod displaceable in the movable frame of the door or window and in which the rod is arranged to engage with a fastening part on the stationary frame, the rod is arranged in covered fashion in the flap of the movable frame and locking members connected with the rod project from the edge face of the flap for engagement with further fastening parts provided on the stationary frame. As shown, a window frame 1 is tiltable about a lower transverse axis by means of a shaft 3 rotatably mounted on a stationary frame 2 and carrying rods 4, 4<SP>1</SP> which engage a fitting 43 on the frame 1. The shaft 3 is rotated by means of hand-operated linkage 40, 41, 42. A rod 6 is located in a flap 5 of the frame 1 for vertical movement by a hand lever 12 of a window gear 13 of known form. A locking pin 10 projects through the edge face 51 of the flap from the rod 6, the lower end of which is adapted to engage, in the closed position of the frame, with a block 15 on the frame 2. The locking pin 10 also engages in the closed position of the frame 1, a guide slot 16 of the rod 4, the slot being such that as the frame 1 is tilted to the open position, the pin is freed therefrom. A rod 411 pivoted to the frame 2 is similarly connected through a pin 10 to the rod 6, the rod 411 being spring-loaded to bias the frame 1 to the closed position. When the rod 6 is moved to its highest position, the frame 1 may be pivoted about the opposite vertical edge, a corner joint 44, 45 and the fitting 43 constituting the pivot axis. A rod 17 on the frame 1 is pivotally connected through a bell crank lever 18 to the rod 6 whereby the rods 6 and 17 may be operated from a position beneath the frame or, by means of a handle, Fig. 7 (not shown), attached to the pivot spindle of the bell crank. In another arrangement, Fig. 8 (not shown), two rods arranged respectively in a vertical and a horizontal flap are controlled by a hand lever to allow the window to be opened thereby about a vertical or a horizontal axis. In a modification of this arrangement, Fig. 9 (not shown), a rod is arranged in each vertical flap and in the lower horizontal flap, and turning and tilting movements of the window are controlled by a single hand-lever at one lower corner of the window.
