A fibre-board carton comprising a pair of side walls 101, 102 with a pair of narrower end walls 103, 104 hinged to them, pairs of flaps 105 ... 108 hinged to the side walls and pairs of flaps 109, 111 and 112, 113 hinged to the end walls, has pressure-sensitive adhesive coatings on the flaps capable of adhering to each other but not to the carton arranged so that the flaps will not stick to each other nor to flaps on similar cartons stacked in a collapsed state. Coatings 114 and 115 are provided at the ends of flap 105 ; coatings 116 and 117 at the ends of flap 106; coatings 118 and 119 at the ends of flap 107 ; and coatings 121 and 122 at the ends of flap 108, all these are on the under side of the flaps, in Fig. 1, indicated by dotted lines. The coatings on the flaps 109, 111, 112 and 113 are each divided into two portions (e.g. 127, 128), and are on the upper side. The side wall 102 and the end wall 104 are connected e.g. by a tape 129. The carton is closed by folding the flaps 109 and 112 inwardly towards each other, Fig. 5 (not shown), and then folding the flaps 105 and 107 over the flaps 109 and 112 so that the coatings overlie each other and adhere. Modifications include arrangement of the coatings near the inner and outer edges of the flaps, closer to the ends of certain flaps and, in an almost square carton, relatively close to the centre with additional corner coatings on the flaps; coatings arranged in spots at only one end and on opposite sides only at each end.
