Abstract
A vitreous-enamelled wrought aluminium alloy article has as its base an aluminium alloy composed of aluminium, 0.5-2.5% Mg2Si, and 0.05-1% Si in excess of that required to form the Mg2Si, the alloy having a melting point of not less than 1050 DEG F. and the article being coated with an enamel melting below 1040 DEG F. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements, Cu 0.1-0.75%, Mn 0.1-1.0%, Cr 0.05-0.3%, Zr 0.05-0.25%, Ti 0.01-0.15%, B 0.005-0.02% The alloy may be solution heat treated at 960-1025 DEG F., quenched and aged at 300-400 DEG F. for 5-24 hours.
