Abstract

A copper-base alloy containing up to 2% Cr, a minor amount of Zr and the balance Cu is solution heated at a temperature between 1000 DEG C. and the solidus, quenched and aged at 300-500 DEG C. A minor amount of Zr is defined as an amount which does not depress the solidus to 1000 DEG C. The alloy may contain Si up to 0.1% and it is particularly suitable for the production of welding electrodes. Specification 512,142 is referred to.
