838,185. Charging coke ovens. DIDIERWERKE A.G. June 13, 1958 [July 13, 1957], No. 18980/58. Class 51 (2). Smoke and gases generated as fresh fuel is charging into a coking chamber are removed and passed into adjacent carbonizing chambers by a main 1 with welded branches 3 formed with extensions 5 engaging waste gas outlets 2 in the oven crown 6, each said branch 3 extending through the main and being closable by a bellvalve 4 dipping into a water or sand seal 7. The valves are operated by handles 11 through linkage 9, 10 extending through a water seal 12, and a steam nozzle 14 in each extension 5 assists in the aspiration of the gases. Closed observation and access openings are provided opposite each valve 4. The apparatus may be movable extending over several chambers.
