Abstract

837,475. Continuous-casting machines. HAZELETT STRIP-CASTING CORPORATION. Dec. 18, 1956 [Dec. 27, 1955], No. 22650/57. Divided out of 837,473. Class 83 (1) Apparatus for casting metal strips between endless flexible bands comprises a pair of spaced moving dams, each associated with a stationary dam for confining the molten metal at the entrance to the casting region. Each moving dam comprises a series of metal or refractory blocks 42 secured to a flexible tape 46, wire or cable, or connected by chain links. Each stationary dam 48 is traversed by a cooling pipe 51. The machine is as described in Specification 837,473. Specification 837,474 also is referred to.
