Abstract

837,474. Continuous - casting processes. HAZELETT STRIP-CASTING CORPORATION. Dec. 18, 1956 [Dec. 27, 1955], No. 22649/57. Divided out of 837,473. Class 83 (1). A method of casting a continuous metal strip between two spaced moving bands 14, 16, consists in cooling at least one of the bands by propelling liquid coolant over the surface of the band to form a continuous rapidly-moving film of liquid thereover. Liquid is sprayed on to both bands from nozzles 98, 90, in conduits 96, 88. Excess water is removed by scoops 104 into gutters 106, and by scoops 111 into a tank below. The machine is as described in Specification 837,473. Specification 837,475 also is referred to.
