Method and device for pouring net old blocks. The subject matter of the invention is a method for casting metal blocks and a device for carrying out this method. The process is characterized by the fact that the cast metal is poured into a water-cooled mold, the bottom of which is lowered during the casting, whereby the cast block can be moved into:
the mold can slide, further that the casting speed and the mold height are chosen so that the block emerging at the lower edge of the mold has not yet solidified to the middle and is only completely solidified after leaving the mold through direct contact with liquid coolants becomes.
In the accompanying drawing, exemplary embodiments of devices with which the method can be carried out are illustrated. 1 and 2 show first examples in a vertical section; Figures 3 and 4 are vertical sections through an apparatus for making clad blocks; Finally, FIG. 5 is a floor plan for FIG. 3.
In Fig. 1, 1 means the wall of a Ko kille, 2 is the cast block, which can be slowly lowered downwards by means of a bottom 4 which is sensitive to a sliding punch 3. The movement is carried out by a hydraulic device 5, not described in detail, which can be designed in any manner. 6 is a pouring channel through which the liquid metal flows into the mold. Through pipes 7, water 8 is brought up partly against the mold wall and partly against the solidifying block.
In Fig. 2, 9 denotes a double-walled mold through which the cooling water 8 flows, h is again the block, which this time is divided into two parts by a dashed line 10, of which the lower is the fixed part , the upper one, dashed in the opposite direction, the one that is still liquid. A vessel 11 is arranged around the stamp and block, in which the coolant 8 is also present. Seals 1 2 ensure that the ram can move through the box without the water flowing out.
In Fig. 3 is ?? the chill, which is elongated in its cross-section, in contrast to the cylindrical shapes shown in the other figures, 6 is again a pouring channel, while 23 represents cladding plates which are placed against the chill wall. The line 24 in turn divides the solid part 25 of the block from the still liquid part 26. FIG. 4 represents a section along the line A- A of FIG. 3 and shows the casting device in a vertical section Narrow side.
The method according to the invention can be performed with the help of the devices described and illustrated, for example, in such a way that first the bottom 4, on which the wrong bottom 14 can still be placed, with the help of the punch 3 to the lower edge of the relatively short mold is lifted. The height of the Ko kille is preferably less than the diameter of the block, or the diameter of the circle corresponds to the cross-sectional area. As soon as the bottom is moved to the lower edge of the mold, liquid metal is continuously introduced through the pouring channel 6 until the metal fills the mold to just below the upper edge.
At the same time, the cooling of the mold wall is turned on itself. In order to keep this cooling as intensive as possible, it is advisable not to make the mold wall unnecessarily strong and to produce it from a metal with good thermal conductivity, such as copper or aluminum. The cooling of the mold, either by sprinkling or by the cooling water flowing around the double wall, now ensures that the metal solidifies on the surface at least in the lower part of the mold.
As soon as the mold is almost filled, the bottom is slowly lowered down, to the extent that the upper metal level remains constant. The casting speed is so great and the casting mold is selected so short that the block emerging at the lower end of the mold has not yet solidified to its center point, but is now due to the coolant acting directly on the metal solidified at the edge full he is brought to a standstill.
The aim of this is that the solidification, especially of the central zone of the block, progresses from bottom to top and largely keeps pace with the solidification on the edge. At the bottom of the block leaving the mold, there is no partition between the coolant and the block, so that the cooling effect is high. This makes the block fine-grained, and segregation and voids are largely suppressed.
The shortness of the mold makes it possible for the casting block to relink under its own weight without it being held by the walls of the mold. This is supported by the sharp cooling below the mold wall, because this causes a certain visual curvature of the solidified edge zones, which causes the block to detach from the mold wall.
This detachment occurs particularly when casting aluminum and aluminum alloys, because these metals have a particularly strong visual curvature. If other metals with less visual curvature are to be cast, it is advisable to give the mold a very slightly conical widening, which, depending on the diameter of the block and the type of 3-metal to be cast, can be up to about 19 ° the diameter can make.
It is also advisable to lubricate the mold with a little graphite to make it easier to slide. There is thus no need for a mechanical device for pulling down the casting block (z. B. of rollers), which has hitherto been done, for example, by either providing the floor with devices that are cast around by the metal, or by using rollers for pulling down the casting block arranged. As soon as the retractable punch has reached its lowest point, the pouring is stopped and the block is removed.
According to FIGS. 3 to 5, a base piece 14 and cladding sheets 23 are placed on the bottom of the mold at the start of casting in order to produce plated cast blocks. The sheets weld with which they touch the metal, which is only liquid for a short time, firmly together, but are cooled down so quickly by the intensive cooling from below that they cannot melt through.
As an example, it should be mentioned that when casting aluminum alloys that contain about 3.5 to 4.5% copper and small amounts of magnesium and manganese, very good blocks are cast if .the diameter of the blocks is about 250 to 300 mm and the Height of the mold is about 160 to 200 mm. The metal is introduced up to about 4 to 5 cm from the upper edge of the mold and then the bottom of the mold is lowered at a speed of about 50 to 90 cm / min.
The result is that the liquid metal in the middle of the block had a depth of about 150 to 200 mm, so that the block in the middle is still liquid after leaving the mold, while the walls immersed in the cooling water have solidified. The cooling water itself circulated continuously and was about lukewarm. After casting, the outside of the cast block turned out to be so smooth and free of segregation that corresponding block sections could be used directly for pressing in the recipients of extrusion presses.
