Abstract

836,327. Swash plate pumps. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. June 7, 1957 [Aug. 24, 1956], No. 18229/57. Class 102(1). The end 62 of the pistons engaging a swash plate 59 approximates a truncated cone the generating line of which makes an angle with the axis of the piston corresponding to the angle between the plane of the swash plate and the axis of the driven shaft and is convexly arched by about 0À002 of an inch. The pistons are urged towards the swash plate by springs 52 and the inlet to the pump has a fixed orifice 77 so that above a certain speed the pistons do not make a full stroke.
