Abstract

835,112. Cathode-ray tubes. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. April 26, 1956, No. 12885/56. Class 39(1). A cathode-ray tube for use in a facsimile transmitting or receiving system consists of an elongated phosphor target 50 on which a linear trace is produced, the beam being projected from gun 14 parallel to the target and deflected, at progressively varying positions along its path, into impingement with the target by an array of deflection electrodes 32 to which potentials are successively applied. The deflection electrodes shown are of box shape open on the side facing the target, but may be arcuate. The phosphor target may be a coating on the envelope and a slotted shielding and beam collimating electrode may be provided along the open sides of the deflection electrodes. A pair of beam focusing rod-shaped electrodes may also be provided between this shielding electrode and the target. Specifications 794,257 and 801,841 are referred to.
