Abstract

834,727. Hydraulic brakes. ALLGAIERWERKE G.m.b.H. Dec. 20, 1957 [May 14, 1957], No. 39697/57. Addition to 816,087. Class 103 (1). [Also in Group XXIX] The tractor hydraulic system of the parent Specification is adapted for the operation of brakes. As in the parent Specification, a pump 1 supplies liquid selectively to a servo cylinder 7 and an hydraulic motor 8 under the control of a valve 6, and a valve 11 maintains a back pressure in a return line 10. As shown, in Fig. 1, a valve 24 is inserted into the pump discharge line 5 upstream of the valve 6 so that liquid is either supplied to valve 6 or to brake cylinders 26, 27, 30, 31. In a modification the brake cylinders are not connected directly to the system, but are connected to a master cylinder having a piston mechanically connected to a piston of a servo cylinder communicating with the valve 24. In the modification of Fig. 5, valve 24 is a piston-type valve having a collar 55 co-operating with a spring-loaded piston 56 forming a relief valve. When valve 24 is in its right-hand position, so that liquid is supplied to the valve 6 through a line 5<SP>1</SP>, the brake cylinders are open to exhaust through the unloaded relief valve; movement of valve 24 to the left compresses the valve spring 58 and raises the pressure in the brake cylinders.
