Abstract
1346585 Load responsive braking systems AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 19 July 1971 [26 July 1970 24 Feb 1971] 36751/70 and 5358/71 Heading F2F A pressure reducing valve for an hydraulic braking system has an inlet which in use is connected to the pressure source such as a master cylinder, and an outlet for connection to wheel cylinders, communication between the inlet 103 and outlet 104 being controlled by means of a plunger 84 co-operating with a seat 93 and having a second annular plunger 95 therearound exposed to inlet and outlet pressures and to the action of a spring 98, an arm 23 having a resilient portion 49 contacting the lower end of plunger 84 and being connected to the axle 13 of the vehicle via a spring 26 providing a force to the plunger 84 in opposition to the pressure at the inlet which force is dependent on the vehicle loading. When the fluid pressure overcomes the forces provided by the springs the valve is closed to prevent further increase of braking pressure in the rear wheel cylinders. The arm 23 may be replaced by a blade spring and when there are valves in two separate circuits they may be operated by a single blade spring.
