Abstract
1,253,347. Antiskid braking systems. ALFRED TEVES G.m.b.H. 29 July, 1970 [7 Aug., 1969 (2)], No. 36701/70. Heading F2F. An antiskid control system in which the pressure fluid in a section of brake line permanently connected to a wheel cylinder can expand or be compressed in dependence on the movement of a piston responsive to a control variable determined by a sensor, includes a piston 5<SP>1</SP> or 5<SP>11</SP> comprising at least two parts 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> or 6<SP>11</SP>, 711 sealingly guided in a cylinder and axially displaceable against a return force such as a spring 18<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>11</SP> one piston part being axially displaceable independently of the other parts and the cylinder being divided into annular chambers 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>11</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> each limited in one direction by a surface of a piston part such as the surface 13<SP>1</SP> or 131<SP>1</SP>. During braking fluid is fed to wheel cylinders 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP> from a master cylinder via pipes 8, 9 and valves 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP>, valves 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP> in a return line 15 being open, and pressure fluid is fed to chambers 10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP>. An hydraulic accumulator (not shown) is connectible to chambers 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> via a line 17 and solenoid valves 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP>. On a tendency of a wheel to lock valves 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP> are closed and valves 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP> opened so that the pressure closes valves 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> to cut off the flow from master cylinder to wheel cylinders, the pressure also causing the piston part having a surface 13<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>11</SP> to move against the spring 18<SP>1</SP>, 18<SP>11</SP> and allow the other parts to move to increase the volume of chambers 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>11</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP> and release the brake pressure.
