Abstract

832,379. Applying internal closures. MONO CONTAINERS Ltd. March 18, 1958 [March 28, 1957], No. 10218/57. Addition to 767,029. Class 125(2). The inner operative surface of the capping mechanism claimed in the parent Specification is comprised by an annular rubber or like ring 17 located between one of the movable inner parts and the outer parts so that relative movement of the parts causes compression and inward radial expansion of the ring. The capping mechanism comprises relatively movable inner parts 6 and 8, the latter having a shoulder 11 which bears on a rubber ring 13 carried by the part 6, causing the ring to expand radially and distort the closure surface into the groove 2 on the container. Part 8 is formed with a screw-threaded portion 14 carrying an adjustable ring member 15. Outer parts 16, 18 are rigidly secured to a shaft 7 and part 16 carries the rubber ring 17 which is compressed by the ring member 15. The flange 5 on the closure is turned over the rim of the carton by part 16 and is then clinched by the radial expansion of ring 17.
