[Also in Group XVII] A die 6a descends on a closure cap 1 in which thermoplastic synthetic material 3 has been placed and a mandrel 6b then descends and presses the material to the required shape, which includes a central flat portion 4 and an annular beading 5 formed by a circular depression 9. The lower periphery of the die 6a has radial grooves 8 through which air and excess material escape. The die is mounted on an arm 11 which is operated by mechanism, not shown, and the mandrel, in addition to the movement imparted by the external die, is actuated by a cam and spring 12, 16.
