Abstract

642,994. Lids for jars &c. WALLIS TIN STAMPING CO., Ltd. May 12, 1948, No. 12965. [Class 125(iii)] A tool for inserting rubber or other rings 13 into flanged receptacle caps 17 comprises a cylinder 10 having a somewhat restricted bottom 12 on which a stack of the rings is positioned. A plunger 18, operated by a guided push member 20 acting through a spring 22, engages the topmost ring whereby on depressing the plunger the lowest ring passes the constriction 12 and is forced into the inverted cap 17. An adjustable collar 15 defines the gap beneath the bottom of the cylinder. The cylinder is charged by means of a mandrel on which the rings are positioned beneath a sliding ring. The mandrel is inserted, with the rings, into the cylinder and the rings are held down by the sliding ring whilst the mandrel is being withdrawn.
