Abstract
831,893. Belt fastening appliances. HAYDENNILOS Ltd. April 21, 1958 [May 1, 1957], No. 13808/57. Class 80 (1). A belt fastening appliance for the insertion of double hooks into the belt end 26 comprises a jaw unit 12 movable along a comb-bar 15 supporting the hooks 20, 25 and having upper and lower jaws 43, 49 carried by levers 44, 48 respectively pivoted at 47. The lever 48 is coupled by toggle links 51 to sliders 53 coupled by links 55 to a pivot 56 on an operating lever 57 pivoted at 58. The lever 44 has a cam formation 60, 61, 62 pressed by a spring 59 into engagement with a roller 63 on the sliders 53 so that as the lever 57 is operated and the sliders 53 move forward the upper jaw 43 is first closed on to the looped end 20 of the fastener by the roller 63 engaging the cam surface of lever 44 and then the lower jaw is closed by the continued movement of the sliders 53 acting through the toggle levers 51 to press the pointed - ends 25 of the fasteners through the belt. These ends are turned over the looped end of the fastener by their engagement with recesses 64 in the upper jaw 43. On return movement of the operating lever 57 the jaws are opened and a pawl operated to step the jaw unit to the next hook position by engagement with a toothed bar 10. The upper jaw 43 is adjustable by a screw 45 in its lever 44.
