633,737. Canvas stretching appliances. COHEN. H. June 14, 1947, No. 15703. [Class 11] An artist's canvas-stretching device comprises a frame 1 (collapsable or otherwise) having a removable cross-bar at one or both ends passed through a hem or a loop on the canvas and slidable in longitudinal slots in the frame and passed into and out of the slots laterally through gaps in the walls of the slot so as to be removable on the release of tension on the canvas. As shown, a bar 5 is passed through slots 4 in the frame so as to enter longitudinal slots 6. A bar 8 is passed through similar slots 7 in the opposite end of the frame so as to enter slots 8a, tension being effected by means of screws 10 passing through solid ends of the bar 8 or by screws operated by a worm gear, Fig. 5 (not shown) or by toggle levers, one of which is screw-adjustable, Fig. 6 (not shown).
