[Class 44] A clip or suspender for stockings or the like comprises a flat rectangular frame A and a plate B, movable to and fro within the opening A so as to be engaged under or disengaged from the cross-piece f to grip the stocking M, the frame having a second cross-piece k under which there engages a wire lever C, which is attached to one end of the plate B, and which may be rocked up and down by the handle C<1> to move the plate. The elastic webbing D is .threaded through the slot A<3> and the lever C, over the cross-piece k and again through the lever C, and under the plate B and is finally secured to the other end g of the frame A. The elasticity of the webbing thus tends to keep the lever C in the lowered position, and hence the plate B in the gripping position.
