831,641. Paper-board. RUBBER TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd., and POLE, E. G. Feb. 2, 1956 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 4645/55. Class 96. In making paper-board, an aqueous solution of an anionic formaldehyde condensation product is added to aqueous paper pulp such as ground wood, sulphite, kraft and/or leather dust pulp and a cationic aqueous dispersion of an elastomer is then added. The elastomer is deposited on the fibres of the pulp. The anionic condensation product is, preferably, lightly condensed resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, but water-soluble reaction products of phenol, urea or melamine with formaldehyde may be used. The dispersion of elastomer may comprise a latex of natural rubber having a dry rubber content of 5% by weight, polyvinyl chloride, polychloroprene or a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, in which the particles are positively charged.
