Abstract

828,214. Laminates; agglutinated fibrous sheet materials. FREUDENBERG KOMMANDIT-GESELLSCHAFT AUF AKTIEN, C. April 30, 1956 [Sept. 22, 1955], No. 13272/56. Class 140. Material of great surface and marginal hardness and at the same time good compressibility is produced by impregnating a fleece in which only fibres, other than glass fibres, in random directions are present with an aqueous natural or synthetic rubber latex containing vulcanizing agents so as to incorporate 45 to 70% by weight of said latex, subjecting the resulting fleece to heat to vulcanize the latex, superimposing several sheets of the product and subjecting them to heat and pressure. In an example, a web of nylon waste is impregnated in two stages with a foamed aqueous dispersion of natural rubber containing tetramethyl thiuramdisulphide, zinc oxide, sulphur, phenyl betanaphthylamine and a wetting agent, dried and vulcanized; four sheets of this material are pressed together under 100 kg/cm<SP>2</SP> pressure for 20 minutes at 155 ‹ C. The sheets may be further impregnated with a solution of a water-soluble melamineformaldehyde resin before subjecting to heat and pressure. Specifications 488,394, 505,801, 716,178, 728,865 and 774,790 are referred to.
