Abstract

831,487. Centrifugal separators. RUF, W. July 11, 1956 [Aug. 8, 1955; March 29, 1956], No. 21418/56. Class 23 A rotary clarifier having a vertical axis has an inlet 17 which dips into the liquid in a supply tank 1. The clarifier rotates about bearings 12 and is directly driven by an electric motor 6, the motor being connected to the clarifier shaft 8 by a flexible coupling 9. A stationary shield 20 surrounds the inlet which is associated with a propeller 16, a screw 22 and a centrifugal pump 18. Clarified liquid passes through outlets 15 into a rotary chamber above the clarifying chamber, and is removed from the rotary chamber by skimming tubes 24.
