Abstract

Class 23 [Also in Group VIII] In a washing machine having a sediment trap 18 disposed in the bottom of its rotatable tub A. and conduit means 24 extending upwardly along the tub wall for centrifugal discharge of sediment on rotation of the tub, the conduit 24 has its outlet 26 disposed to the rear of its inlet 23 in the direction of rotation of the tub. The conduit means comprises one or more tubes 24 arranged in a helical manner around the outwardly sloping wall 10 of the tub, and extending at least as high as the normal liquid level in the tub. A balancing ring 14 is bolted to a flange 15 on the tub. The tub A is supported and rotated by a shaft 16 surrounding a shaft 17 for oscillating a bladed agitator B.
