In a side-delivery rake of the rake-wheel type guide-members are associated with the rake-wheels to prevent crop from being engaged by the upper parts of the rake-wheels. As shown in Fig. 2, the rake wheels 21-24 are mounted in a group on a beam 16 which is floatingly mounted on a frame, Fig. 1 (not shown), through a pivoted crank connected to the upper apex 14 of a triangular plate 15 secured to the beam 16. Each rake-wheel, Fig. 3, comprises a toothed disc, such as 21, which is supported on a hub 38 by a coiled spring 41. The hub is freely rotatable on a stub axle 17 integral with the beam 16 and to which is secured a stationary dished disc 25 partially covering the rake wheel. Two bars 29, 34, secured to the stub axle and disc respectively, extend upwardly and are joined to other bars 30, 31, 33. to form the guide. In a modification, the rake-wheels are individually mounted on the frame on cranks and each rake-wheel has an associated guide-bar. In Fig. 6, each guide-bar 94 is of spring-steel and resiliently supports a dished disc 96 and stubaxle 95 on which the rake-wheel 97 is mounted, all the bars 94 being secured at their upper ends to a frame 90, 91, 92 carried by tractor draughtlinks. The stub-axles 95 are interconnected by a helical spring 98 and the bars 94 are curved so as to extend downwardly and forwardly at their lower ends. Specification 830,415 is referred to.
