Abstract
800021. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY, N. V., C. Oct. 11, 1954 [Oct. 16, 1953], No. 29236/54. Class 6(3). Relates to a rake-wheel for a side-delivery rake of the kind wherein rake-wheels with peripheral tines are mounted in an oblique echelon formation on a frame so that the wheels are driven by ground-contact as the machine advances. According to the invention, each tine is mounted to be capable of resilient deflection about an axis 5 and each comprises a portion 7 which extends forwardly relatively to the* direction of rotation the portion 7 passing into a terminal portion 8 which is cranked to extend rearwardly relatively to the direction of motion. In Fig. 1., the tines are made in pairs by binding a single piece of wire to form a pair of spokes 5 which are secured to a hub 2 by a bolt 4, and which extend non- radially to pass through apertures 6 in a rim 3, where they are bent to form the parts 8 and 9. The rim and hub are not co-planar. In Fig. 2, the rim 22 and hub 21 are interconnected by fixed spokes 24 and the end of each wire spoke is secured to the inside of the rim and thereafter bent at 28, 29 and 31 to form the tine, the portion 27 constituting the pivot-axis 7.
