Abstract

1,010,968. Haymaking machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. March 11, 1963 [March 28, 1962], No. 9547/63. Heading A1F. In a rake-wheel, of the kind having circumferential resilient tines 29 and having a single supporting member (e.g. the rim 28) for the tines, the member being connected to the wheel-hub 26 by resilient spokes 27, each spoke is composed of two straight interconnected portions 33, 34 inclined to one another. As shown, the spokes protrude through holes in the rim to form the tines, and are made, in pairs, from single lengths of wire bent sharply at 30 and held beneath clamping-pieces 31 by bolts 32. The rim can deflect by torsion of the parts 34 about the radial parts 33. The rakewheels 14 are shown applied to a machine (Fig. 1) comprising a main beam 1 carrying axles 7, 8 rotatable in bearings 2-5 by power derived from the tractor 23 through a jointed shaft 22, gearbox 20 and chains 18, 19, a further driven shaft 13 also carrying a central rake-wheel. The machine is mounted on lockable castors 12 at the ends of the beam 1 and is connected to the tractor by a drawbar 24.
