Abstract
803,213. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Jan. 19, 1956 [Jan. 22, 1955], No. 1871/56. Class 6(3). A side-delivery rake and swath-turner of the type having rake-wheels 2, 3, 4, 5 which are carried on mountings 6, 9, 13, 15, 19 on the frame 10, the mounting positions being alternative so that the wheels may be mounted either in a single line so that each rake wheel delivers material to its neighbour, or in two groups wherein each rake wheel delivers crop independently, is characterized in that one of the rake-wheels is mounted in the same position in both arrangements so that the number of alternative mountings is one less than the number of rake-wheels. As shown, the frame 10 is loop-shaped and has four rake-wheels which are arranged in the solid-line positions 2, 3, 4, 5 for side-delivery but are arranged in the dotted positions 2A, 3A, 5A for swath-turning, with the exception of the wheel 4 which is unaltered in position. For side-delivery the machine is drawn in the direction P and for swath-turning in the direction PA, the draw arm 22 having an adjustable strut 23 for this purpose.
