A swath-splitter comprises a frame 1 carrying pairs of rake-wheels arranged in V-fashion in relation to the direction of travel, the device having two working positions, in one of which the rake-wheel pairs lie side-by-side, and in the other they are arranged sequentially in the direction of travel. The frame 1 is similar to that described in Specification 876,914, and is E-shaped in plan, each limb terminating in a vertical pivot 7, 8, 12, on which is adjustably mounted a beam, 5, 6, 11. Each beam is supported by a land-wheel and has pivoted to it an auxiliary support 14, 15, 16, comprising two beams inclined at an acute angle, the supports being floatingly suspended by springs such as 23. The free ends of the auxiliary supports are tubular and adjustably receive rods 53, Fig. 2, which terminate in sockets 49, 50 of different lengths ; a bent non-rotating axle 57 carrying a freely rotatable rake-wheel, such as 28, is inserted into one of the sockets. The rods 53 can be rotated, or slid longitudinally, in their sockets to alter the spacing between the rake-wheels of any pair. In Fig. 1, the device is drawn in the direction I by a drawbar 43 attached to the frame at 44. The drawbar may also be attached at 46, to the bowed outer end of the beam 5, the device being then drawn in the direction II. In this position, the rearmost rake-wheels 28, 29, are more widely spaced than the prededing rake-wheels. Specifications 876,915 and 876,916 also are referred to.
