789,941. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Jan. 27, 1956 [Feb. 2, 1955], No. 2762/56. Class 6(3). A side-delivery rake and swath turner of the type having rake-wheels 41, 42, 43 mounted on cranks 30, 46, 47 is characterized in that one or more of the cranks are rotatable about their crank-pins through 180 degrees so that the rake-wheels carried thereby have two working positions symmetrically disposed relatively to a vertical plane through the respective crankpin. As shown in Fig. 1, the frame 2 is L- shaped in plan and has a drawbar 1 hinged to one of its free ends 3, the bar being stayed by an adjustable member 4. The cranks 30 and 47 can be rotated through 180 degrees so that the three wheels lie in a single line transverse to the direction of travel, V, whereby the rake- wheels deliver crop independently of one another. The central wheel 44 and crank can then be removed so that the two remaining wheels 41, 43 operate on different swaths. The frame is mounted on two swivel wheels 16, 21 whose planes of rotation can be fixed. In a modification four wheels are similarly mounted and can be arranged in a single line for sidedelivery or in two groups for swath-turning.
